All files in FilingBox SMB are provided with a read-only attribute by default, and only logged-in users can edit them in Access mode. To edit them, signed-in users must enable the Access mode in the File Explorer context menu. The context menu is available by right-clicking a file and selecting Change to Access mode or Edit in Access mode.
All confidential files in FilingBox SMB will respond with fake content. To access and edit the actual content, logged-in users must enable the Access mode in the File Explorer context menu. The context menu is available by right-clicking a file and selecting Change to Access mode or Edit in Access mode.
Changing Files to Access Mode
- Log in to the FilingBox SMB desktop client.
- Access the FilingBox SMB drive using File Explorer.
- Right-click a file you want to edit.
- Click Change to Access Mode in the File Explorer context menu.
- The Access Mode indicator displays in the file icon.
- Until exiting Access Mode, the actual content of the file remains editable.
Opening Files in Access Mode
- Log in to the FilingBox SMB desktop client.
- Access the FilingBox SMB drive using File Explorer.
- Right-click a file you want to edit.
- Click Open in Access Mode in the File Explorer context menu.
- The default application or selected application for the file launches and opens the file.
- The Access Mode indicator displays in the file icon.
- The actual content of the file is editable.
- Once the application is properly closed, the file is no longer in Access mode automatically.
