Using File Explorer on Windows 10 or 11

  1. Refer to Microsoft’s official documentation to learn how to map a network drive using File Explorer on Windows 10 or 11.
  2. Entering Paths for Personal and Shared folders: When entering the network drive address, use the following format.
    • Personal
      \\filingbox-home-server-ip-address\your-id (e.g., \\192.168.200.42\john)
    • Shared
      \\filingbox-home-server-ip-address\shared (e.g., \\192.168.200.42\shared)
  3. Entering Network Credentials: Enter your user account ID and password.

    Note

The administrator account can log in, but only those with backup drive access permissions are allowed. These administrator accounts, upon login, can access all personal and shared folders in read-only mode and perform backups by copying user files to a separate storage location. (Refer to [Changing Administrator Account Backup Drive Access Permissions] for more details.)

  4. Disconnecting Personal and Shared folders: In File Explorer, right-click the connected network drive and select Disconnect from the menu.

    Important

To connect to personal or shared folders associated with a different user account, you must first disconnect all currently connected personal and shared folders.
